Creatinine Clearance
Creatinine Clearance; Serum creatinine, urine creatinine. This test is used to help evaluate the rate and efficiency of kidney filtration. It is used to help detect kidney dysfunction and/or the presence of decreased blood flow to the kidneys. In patients with chronic kidney disease or congestive heart failure (which decreases the rate of blood flow), the creatinine clearance test may be ordered to help monitor the progress of the disease and evaluate its severity. Test Code # 003004.

Creatinine Serum
Creatinine Serum; A combination of blood and urine creatinine levels may be used to calculate a creatinine clearance. This measures how effectively your kidneys are filtering small molecules like creatinine out of your blood. Urine creatinine may also be used with a variety of other urine tests as a sort of correction factor. Since it is produced and removed at a relatively constant rate, the amount of urine creatinine can be compared to the amount of the other substance (such as protein) being measured. Test code # 001370.

Urinalysis Routine
Urinalysis Routine; With Microscopic Examination on Positives The urinalysis is used as a screening and/or diagnostic tool because it can help detect substances or cellular material in the urine associated with different metabolic and kidney disorders. It is ordered widely and routinely to detect any abnormalities that should be followed up on. Often, substances such as protein or glucose will begin to appear in the urine before patients are aware that they may have a problem. It is used to detect urinary tract infections (UTI) and other disorders of the urinary tract. In patients with acute or chronic conditions, such as kidney disease, the urinalysis may be ordered at intervals as a rapid method to help monitor organ function, status, and response to treatment. Test Code # 003038.
